I'm not going to go into too much detail about how to drive and what lines to take etc, suffice to say that common sense will prevail every time.

CRASHES: Crashes are part of motor racing, everyone has their fair share throughout their career however deliberate crashing will not be tolerated in any way. Any person who deliberately crashes into another competitor will be removed from the server.

LAG: Lag is an online problem that affects every game. It occurs because the signals from your computer must travel via your modem and telephone line to the games server which is in Sydney Australia. The signal must then travel to each and every other person in the race so they can see your car. Now all this travel happens very quickly but it does take time, movements you make to your car may not be seen by the other competitors until a ¼ of a second later. If you are driving erratically then it makes things very difficult for everyone as your car is seen to jump from side to side on the track. Just drive smoothly, consistently and above all predictably.

DAMAGE: The damage model used by GPL is such that when 2 cars get too close to each other while racing instead of rubbing and bumping each other the program simulates an explosion and the 2 cars fly apart quite violently. This may even occur without the cars actually touching and Internet lag can compound this situation when the cars appear to jump around on the track as explained at the top of the page. The solution to this problem is to make sure there is sufficient distance between your car and your competitors at all times. When viewing from the cockpit and following behind another car always make sure you can see a section of roadway between your car and the car in front. This will ensure there is sufficient distance between cars.

MIRRORS: GPL has very large blind spots when driving from the cockpit. To state the obvious, if the driver in front of you can’t see you then don’t be surprised if they cut you off or crash into you while your attempting a pass. As much as you can, show yourself in the mirrors of the car in front so that driver has a chance of avoiding you. Trying to stay away from an opponent’s mirrors may be a valid tactic by trying to rattle them into an error by making them guess where you are but in GPL this may be asking for trouble. The visual limitations in GPL requires us to play the gentleman here, for everyone's survival and enjoyment.

PASSING: If you want to make a pass on someone, make it sooner rather than later and make your intentions well known. If you are being passed, leave heaps of room. If you're going to block someone, do it sooner rather than later and always make your intentions well known. NEVER swerve or make repeated attempts to stay in front of another car.
Again, deliberately hiding your intentions in GPL is just asking for trouble.
